From Rs.500 to Rs.3,000 Crore (A study on Dr. Velumani)

What if I told you about a man who came from a village with just Rs. 500 in his pocket became one of the richest men in India. Today the worth of its business capital in the market is Rs.3,000 crores. So ladies and gentlemen just buckle up your seatbelts and let's have a look at the life of Mr. Velumani.

Velumani was born in April 1959 in a village that was in the state of Tamil Nadu. He is the eldest son in his family. His father was a farmer and his mother was a housewife. They had two buffaloes. To meet up their daily expenses they seek the milk of those buffaloes. 

After completing his bachelor's degree in engineering, Velumani started to job in different organizations. He said that in his first interview, the interviewer asked him that "Do you know where is thyroid in the human body?" Velumani said, "Sir I know it's in the human body but I don't know where it is?". He takes this question very seriously in his life and during the period when he was doing a job, he completed his masters and doctorate in thyroid biochemistry. If you are doing a job and at the same time you are also studying you know how much time & effort is required to reach your goal. That was the first benchmark set by this village boy for himself. 

Velumani said that it was the time when he realized that sooner or later he will retire from his job and he had achieved nothing in his life. He married Sumathi who used to work in the State Bank of India.  He told his wife that he wants to left his job and wanted to start his own business (Thyrocare). His wife was not happy with him and said that "If you left the job, I will do the same". But Velumani had already taken the initiative in his mind.  


He started his franchise model in his diagnostic laboratory. By providing affordable testing services through which he expanded his business. He provides other services like preventive medical checkups and other blood diagnostic tests. 
Thyrocare has more than 1000 outlets. The outlets are also in Nepal, Bangladesh, and the Middle East. Velumani is also the founder and MD of Nuclear Healthcare Ltd.
